Lebanese Grilled Chicken Skewers

An Authentic Lebanese Grilled Chicken Skewers Shish Taouk Recipe

Shish Taouk Recipe has number of variations from ala restuarants to street food junkies.But few ingredients which you will find constant every time in a shish taouk recipe specially in lebanese style is loads of garlic and a sweetly sour taste that is lemon juice tomato sauce, paprika and turmeric for color. The main reason shish taouk is becoming popular with each passing day is because its simple to cook yet tastes exotic without addition of much flavours or spices. And not to forget its low in calories coz it is grilled and not fried.

Note Down The Ingredients

  • 4 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
  • 1/4 Cup Of Yogurt
  • 4 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1/4 Tablespoon Of Ground Allspice
  • 3/4 Tablespoon Of Thyme(Dried)12/27/2012
  • 1 Medium Tablespoon Of Ground Cumin
  • 2 Tablespoon Sweet Paprika
  • 1 Tablespoon Of 1 Lemon Juice
  • 5-6 Cloves Of Garlic
  • 2 Tablespoon Tomato Paste/Sauce
  • Salt And Peeper According To Taste
  • Mushrooms 10-11 Pieces (You Can Add More As Per To Your Taste)
  • 2 Small Red Bell Pepper
  • 1 Medium White Onion

Method To Prepare

  1. In a medium bowl add the chopped garlic, tomato sauce, salt -pepper, olive oil, lemon juice, dried spices and stir the mixture until it get uniform.
  2. Cut the chicken into small pieces( around one inch)
  3. Marinade the chicken bites with above prepared mixture. Keep aside for 6-8 hrs. It will help the chicken to soak the flavours. If you soak them for longer period chicken will become more softer but eventually will lose its texture
  4. Start placing marinated chicken and vegetables on the skewers.3-4 pieces of chicken, 2-4 buttons of mushrooms, a slice of onion
  5. Grill the chicken over moderate to high heat . After 5-7 minutes flip aside. Avoid multiple flipings as it will spoil the wrapping.
Serve hot with rice, pita bread, salad and possibly with some grilled tomatoes Yum Yum.!!
